Sleeping Beauties

At night in a garage setting before race day, all four Mercedes W154 cars in various states of readiness and momentarily abandoned.
Manfred von Brauchitsch's car is in the center with the red grill.
Dick Seaman's car is to the right with the green grill.
It was part of the identification scheme to recognize drivers as they went by the pits at 180 mph.
The W154 with a V12 supercharged engine at 3 liters, developed 485 bhp at 8.000 rpm and was very competitive for 1938 and 1939.
